Executive Director

Tara Brown is a human services professional with eight years of experience working with and developing programming for families and individuals experiencing homelessness. Prior to her time in human services, Tara worked for seven years in the insurance industry in her hometown of Urbandale, Iowa. She has a Bachelor of Science in Human Services with an emphasis in Addiction Studies from the University of Phoenix. A strong client advocate, Tara has a passion for serving others and believes the best part of her job is working closely with the mothers and children at MHoH. Tara is inspired daily by her husband and their three daughters. In her free time, she likes to spend time with her family, read a good book and cheer on the Minnesota Vikings.

Family Life Specialist

Shari is our new Family Life Specialist at Martha's House of Hope. She is a retired nurse who loves volunteering and spending time with family. Shari will focus on working with the women in the program by supporting them in achieving their goals and empowering them to maintain a physically and emotionally healthy household that is sustainable for themselves and their little ones. She is excited for this opportunity, as she feels God has had her in several specific and challenging life experiences over the last 30+ years that have prepared her for this. Martha's mission is very near and dear to Shari because of her background; she wants to be a part of the solution for other mothers undergoing relatable circumstances.

Peyton couldn't be more excited to join the Martha's House of Hope team as the new volunteer coordinator. She is a daughter, sister, auntie and treasured child of the King. Originally, she is from Eastern Iowa and graduated from EICC (Eastern Iowa Community Colleges) with her associate in graphic design. Prior to joining MHOH's team she worked in her hometown flower shop, interned at her local chamber and development company, as well as serving multiple summers at a Bible camp. With a zeal for interpersonal relationships and a passion for supporting the mission here at Martha's, she is most excited to form strong lasting relationships, to grow and to be stretched in her new position. When she is not working and learning from the women here at Martha's House of Hope, you can find her spending time with her family, having fun with her community of friends, painting, or spending any chance to soak up a nice day outdoors!
